I had a lot of fun creating this in college. Our project was to create a light of some kind. Task, Ambient, Decorative, and so-on. I chose to create a simple, decorative pendant light that would take inspiration from the Northern Lights. I've been inspired by the northern lights since I was young from the animated movie "Balto". I decided to create a version of this that would be out of simple materials, and could be changed out to create various colored lights.
I wanted the lights to shift in a room, so I've made it out of a rotating LED light--both for the price and the long-lasting use. The base of the light is made out of recycled cardboard, the top of the light is from a recycled water bottle bottom, and it's hung by fishing line. I love that these materials are extremely accessible and makes use of every-day materials. With another lid in place of the water bottle bottom, other reflecting shapes can be created as well, which makes this light changeable, creative, and fun!
